On April 01, 2020, the Mexican National Fund to Promote Tourism (FONATUR, for its acronym in Spanish) announced the receipt of 14 economic proposals for the construction of the first section of the Mayan Railroad project to be developed throughout the Yucat\u00e1n Peninsula.<\/p>\n

The first section of the project will comprise a route that will run from Palenque - Chiapas- up to Esc\u00e1rcega.<\/p>\n

Public tender related to this section comprises the following activities: (i) basic engineer, including cartographic and topographic studies, hydrology studies, civil works projects, among others; (ii) supply of materials; (iii) execution of works such as structures, platforms, roads, drainage systems, maintenance for 5 years.<\/p>\n

Proposals filed on April 03, 2020 will be analyzed by FONATUR under a points and percentage criteria. Technical and economic proposals will have, each, a value of 50 points.<\/p>\n

Ruling for the construction of this first section is expected to take place on April 23rd 2020 for works to begin on April 30th, 2020.<\/p>\n

The total investment estimated for this project is of USD $8.0 billion.<\/p>\n

With this project Mexican President seeks to promote and strengthen the development of the southeast Mexican region since such project would include the Mexican States of Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucat\u00e1n and Quintana Roo.<\/p>\n
