LAW OF DIGITAL\nOPERATION AND INNOVATION FOR MEXICO CITY<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On December 31, 2018 a Decree\nissuing the Law of Digital Operation and Innovation for Mexico City (\"the Law\") was published in the official gazette.\nwas published in the official gazette. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Law creates the Agency\nfor Public Digital Innovation of Mexico City, to design and coordinate public\npublic policy for this city in the field of data management, technological and\nconnectivity control, among others. For this purpose, the Agency will create\nand implement technological solutions and establish laboratories for\ninnovation. Within the range of activities pertaining to the Agency, is included working with third parties for the\nincluded working with third parties for the purchase, operation, sale, exchange or rental of telecommunication network\nor rental of telecommunication network capacity and communications\ninfrastructure with the goal of providing network access to all public\nbuildings and facilities of the government of Mexico City as well as in\nschools, libraries, public transport and other public spaces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Law also seeks regulatory\nsimplifications to make Mexico City more competitive, including the\nestablishment of digital identification means and platforms for public\nservices. Moreover, the Law aims to\nincrease transparency on public spending and government contracts, through the\ncreation of a publicly accessible system for monitoring them and the\nimplementation of better tools for detecting potential conflicts of interest in government contract\ngovernment contract proceedings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition, the Law provides\nnew rules for the management and use of data obtained and generated by the\nlocal government of Mexico City whose implementation and supervision will be in\ncharge of the Agency pursuant to the public policy prepared for such a purpose.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With this important\nlegislation, it is expected that the government of Mexico City will be able to\nbetter control public spending, provide more transparency on public contracts,\nreduce corruption and offer better opportunities for potential investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
