On October 30, 2025, it was published in the Diario Oficial de la Federaci\u00f3n (Official Gazette of the Federation) the \u00abAGREEMENT ACDO.AS2. HCT.220725\/194.P.DPES issued by the Technical Council of the Mexican Social Security Institute, in an ordinary session held on July 22, 2025, regarding the authorization of the registration and use of the biometric information of insured persons as a mechanism to validate their identity and allow the consultation of information related to temporary work disability benefits, as well as the registration and\/or updating of bank details for electronic payment, where applicable, strengthening the Subsidy Payment Improvement Program\u201d<\/em>, which came into force the following day, October 31, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the agreement, the Institute’s Technical Council authorizes the implementation and use of a new service in the IMSS Digital mobile application, through which insured persons will be able to access information related to the processing of subsidies for temporary work incapacity due to occupational hazards, general illness, and maternity; as well as to register and\/or update their bank account for the corresponding payment of these benefits, after digital validation of their identity through the use of biometric information, which will have the same legal effect as a handwritten signature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Phased implementation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first phase<\/strong>, the service will be made available to workers on digital platforms who are covered by the mandatory social security system. In the second phase<\/strong>, once the digital service has been stabilized, it will be extended to all persons covered by the mandatory system, with priority given to insured persons who are temporarily unable to work due to maternity leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
