The Memorandum of Understanding provides for cooperation between the parties in the design and implementation of a jurisdictional carbon emissions reduction and carbon credit generation program under the ART TREES international standard. It also promotes REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) initiatives, climate change adaptation measures, and actions to protect approximately 2.89 million hectares across the state, while promoting the active participation of local communities and seeking to ensure that they share in the benefits of the program..<\/p>\n\n\n\n
