CALL FOR THE BIDDING PROCESS TO AWARD A MANAGEMENT AND OPERATION CONTRACT FOR THE TRANSMISSION INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE INTERCONNECTION BETWEEN THE NATIONAL INTERCONNECTED SYSTEM AND THE BAJA CALIFORNIA ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

 

 

On December 07, 2017, the Ministry of Energy (“SENER”) announced the call for a bidding process for the finance, installation, maintenance, management and operation of the Baja California Interconnection System (BC) with the National Interconnected System (SIN), which would represent the first electrical energy transmission project with private participation (the “Project”).

 

The Project will consist in two converter stations and one direct high-voltage transmission line with an estimated length of 1,400 circuit kilometers with a tension level of +/- 500 kilo volts and a transmission capacity of 1,500 MW.

 

Pursuant to the information released by SENER, the proposed calendar for the 1st SENER tender would be as follows:

Pre-Bidding Guidelines publication

January 2018 Call to Bid (Bidding Guidelines and Contract)
July 2018 Filing of technical and economic proposals.
September 2018 Awarding of the bid.

 

It is important to mention that SENER has released the Pre-Bidding Guidelines for the Project providing additional details for the bidding process, as well as the registration procedure to participate in the tender.
