Mexico City, November 29th, 2021.
The Ministry of the Interior has announced, in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the temporary application of visas in ordinary passports to nationals of the Federative Republic of Brazil who intend to enter Mexican territory by air, land or sea.
The agreement that determines the temporary application of the visa has been published in the Federal Official Gazette, on November 26, which will come into effect 15 calendar days after its publication in the Federal Official Gazette.
Visitors aiming to enter by air must request prior to their entry, the Electronic or virtual visa and those seeking to enter by land or sea must apply for the corresponding visa before the Mexican consular authority.
The Mexican State has adopted the decision to suspend for the second occasion the Agreement for the Suppression of Visas in Ordinary Passports for Brazilian nationals – whose validity dates back to November 2000 – considering that there has been an increase in Brazilian nationals entering Mexican territory with the Visitors without permission to engage in gainful activities and whose entry to Mexico entails a purpose other than tourism or business activities, which contravenes current immigration provisions.
The measure has been communicated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil, via the pertinent diplomatic channels.
