Mexico City, February 25th, 2021.
On February 16th, 2021, the Ministry of Communications and Transportation, issued an Administrative Agreement approving the Institutional Programs for the Integral Port Administrations 2020-2024 (Programas Institucionales de las Administradoras Portuarias Integrales) (the "Agreement").
The Agreement provides the required steps and procedures to satisfy, increase, optimize and maintain the current Mexican port infrastructure, to offer the appropriate conditions towards the growth of supply and competitiveness in the following ports:
1. Altamira. | 8. Puerto Madero. |
2. Dos Bocas. | 9. Puerto Vallarta. |
3. Ensenada. | 10. Tampico. |
4. Guaymas. | 11. Topolobampo. |
5. Lazaro Cardenas. | 12. Tuxpan. |
6. Manzanillo. | 13. Veracruz. |
7. Progreso. | 14. Mazatlan. |
Several infrastructure projects are proposed to be developed during the coming years in each of the referred Mexican ports, including, among others:
a) Dredging activities as to increase the deepening of navigation areas.
b) Construction of docks and yards, as to attend cargoes and the reception of supply vessels.
c) Construction of protection works to the coasts.
d) Construction of electrical substations.
e) Reconstruction and expansion of vehicular overpasses to improve transportation flows, port-city connections.
Each of the programs included in the Agreement aims to attend the specific requirements and needs related to the referred ports as to make them more competitive.
As referred in the Agreement, tender procedures are expected to be called for the development and construction of infrastructure projects related to the fourteen ports previously mentioned.
