On March 19, 2020, the Federal Economic Competition Commission («FECC» or the “Commission”) issued a ruling whereby it is resolved to suspend the terms of some proceedings before the FECC (the «Ruling»).

Through this Ruling, the FECC determined that from March 23 to April 17, 2020, the terms and deadlines of some procedures filed before the Commission will be suspended, without this implying the closure of the Commission’s offices, which will maintain its regular business hours. Consequently, the promotions submitted before the FECC between March 23 and April 17, 2020, will be deemed as presented on April 20, 2020.

The suspension of terms does not apply to procedures on concentrations matters and opinions or resolutions in the granting of licenses, concessions, permits and other similar ones that will follow their ordinary course.

However, the suspension of deadlines applies to all other proceedings under the Federal Economic Competition Law, including investigations, proceedings followed in the form of a trial, special proceedings and incidents.

This measure aims to reduce the risks of spreading COVID-19 virus and to protect public servants, economic agents, practitioners and all visitors.
