Basham, Ringe, y Correa acted as one of the advisors to Grupo Carso, S.A.B. de C.V. («Grupo Carso») in the transaction executed with Pemex Exploración y Producción for the exploitation of the Lakach field.
Lakach, a field located in deep waters in the southern Gulf of Mexico, was discovered in 2007 and its reserves are estimated at approximately 900 billion cubic feet of gas. The project estimates an investment of 1.2 billion dollars over the next few years for the development of the field.
By means of this transaction, Grupo Carso continues consolidating its participation in the hydrocarbon extraction sector in Mexico, adding to the acquisition in the Zama Field completed in 2023, the acquisition of PetroBal Operaciones Upstream, S.A. de C.V., consummated last June 20, and its several years of experience in the manufacturing of offshore platforms, Jack Ups, and in onshore and offshore drilling.
