EXPERIENCE

Carlos Gómez has more than fifteen years of experience in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and structured finance. Throughout his career, he has advised institutional investors, financial institutions, multinational companies, private equity funds, and strategic investors in complex domestic and cross-border transactions.

In the corporate sphere, he has represented buyers, sellers, investment funds, and family offices in M&A transactions, including strategic acquisitions in the insurance, education, consumer goods, and real estate sectors. He has also advised on the structuring of joint ventures and cross-border strategic alliances, including transactions in the infrastructure, education, and financial services industries.

In the financial sector, he has participated in large-scale financings exceeding US$10 billion, including international refinancings, syndicated loans, and debt offerings under Rule 144A and Regulation S in the United States. He has advised domestic and foreign banks on the structuring of syndicated loans, bridge loans, revolving credit facilities, and debt issuances, with a particular focus on complex structuring matters.

Prior to joining Basham, he served as Counsel at an international law firm headquartered in Spain and previously worked at a top-tier Mexican law firm.

He holds a law degree (LL.B.) from the Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of California, Berkeley, with a specialization in Business Law. He has also completed executive studies at IPADE and holds certifications from WIPO. He has participated as a speaker in specialized forums on M&A and structured finance.

He is a member of the Barra Mexicana de Abogados, where he serves as Chair of the Banking and Finance Committee.
