On March 9, 2018, the federal Executive branch, published in the Federal Official Gazette (Official Journal of the Federation) the Financial Technology Institutions Law (Financial Technology Institutions Law) ("Fintech Law"), which will become in force on March 12, 2018. The Fintech Law regulates Collective Financing Institutions (crowdfunding), Electronic Payment Institutions (electronic wallets), Innovative Companies (sandbox models), and provides the use of cryptocurrencies which have been previously authorized by Mexico's Central Bank (Bank of Mexico).
